NetChoice Releases Its March 2011 iAWFUL Listing of Bad Internet Laws

Today NetChoice released our first iAWFUL list for 2011, at www.iawful.comiAWFUL is the Internet Advocates’ Watchlist for Ugly Laws and is a top ten list highlighting the worst legislative and regulatory proposals targeted at the Internet.

The #1 offender on the iAwful list is a bill by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) to let the Federal Trade Commission create regulations to dramatically reduce the use of tracking data that drives Internet advertising, by enforcing a global opt-out preference by users.

#2 on the list are bills coming from California and Tennessee threatening teenagers’ access to social networking.
